Our History

Singerband High School, Singerband , Cachar is not only an academic institution but also a symbol of unity and integrity of the indigenous people, living on the southern bank of the Barak River under Lakhipur Sub Division is in the development of education and fastening unity among the different sections of diverse societies of the area.

The school is situated at the heart of the Singerband, a vast village on the southern side of the mighty Barak River under the Lakhipur Sub Division. Its distance from Silchar, the District Head Quarter via Lakhipur Town is almost 50kms. It is ideally located by the side of the newly constructed PMGSY Road extending from Binnakandighat to Silghat and to Sonai which is the lifeline of not only Singerband but also other neighboring villages and as such it stands as a beacon of higher learning for the ambitious youngsters of the countryside of South Barak under Lakhipur constituency. The village, of course, borders on the south by the villages of Laikol and Kaptrapur, on the east by Binnakandi Part II, on the west by Anuwapar, Hztirhar and Rupkibali and Tolengram and Sapormona towards the northern bank of the Barak River facing Singerband side by side.

The Manipuri population of this village has formed substantial portion of the total population of the Binnakandi Development Block and has occupied long and extensive fertile belt in this bloc. The Manipuri Muslims are also living in big pockets and Bengali Muslims and Bengali Hindus in small pockets, extending mutual co-operation as brothers and sisters of the same family. The geographical characteristics of the Singerband are strategically unique since it occupies a premier position among the villages of the Cachar district as regards social, economics and agricultures development.

Since times immemorial, the rich cultural heritage of the Manipuri’s has brought about a qualitative change in the society. The Gurukul system of teaching-learning process like Thang-Ta, Mukna, and Jagoi etc. has facilitated promoting educational change among the Manipuris. Thus, with a view to cultivating social as moral values, then social elites of the village persuaded the new education policy by establishing No.111 Singers ad LP School in, No.225 Singerband Maniglekai LP School in 1950. No.573 Kaptapur LP School in the year and No.950 Manigleikei LP School in the year 1963.

SINGERBAND HIGH SCHOOL, Singerband Cachar was extended in the year 1959 from the Singerband ME School which was established in the year 1953. Those who had successfully shouldered the on us responsibilities of well-shaping the institution by including the true spirit of dedication are, inter alia-
